I have my 4KEX120-KVM extender connected to my pc on one side and my screen/kb/mouse on the other side. This works great most of the time. Even when my pc goes into stand-by, I can wake it up with the keyboard and everything keeps working. However, when it has been in stand-by for a longer period of time, say overnight, I can still wake up the pc by pressing a key on the keyboard, but then nothing works. No screen display and no kb/mouse. If I then unplug and replug everything, it starts working again. But naturally, that is not what I want to do every time.
It seems I may have found the issue: if I turn off the lighting on my keyboard, the issue is gone. Maybe it draws too much current? I guess I’ll try to add a powered USB hub.
Hello FPape,
Thanks for reaching us.
Maybe you can try use other common keyboard, but not the RGB Mechanical(Game) keyboard to have a test.
And you also can try add the powered USB hub to check.
Best Regards,
In case anyone finds this topic: I initially bought a powered USB3 hub, but that did not make a difference and made it even worse: I would have the problem even with the keyboard backlight off. Just to be sure I tried a powered USB2 hub, and that did fix it, also with the backlight on. It’s been running problem free for a few weeks now, so I think I’m good.
