I have an iDock C20 operating with dual monitors connected to a Dell win11 laptop and a usb headset connected to the docking station. My issue is that the headset randomly disconnects with windows message for a usb failure. At that point I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting to the docking station but this doesn’t work, the only solution is to move the connection to a port on the laptop and at that point it works fine with no other changes or power resets. Directly connected to the laptop the headset has no issue, also a keyboard/mouse connected to a usb-b docking station port has no disconnects.
Any suggestions for how to eliminate this error? The headset is usb-b, I have tried all the ports on the docking station and have also tried a usb-c port with an adapter but all have the same issue.
Thank you for responding. Based on reading some other forums I have switched off windows USB power management and have now gone 2 days without a disconnect. I will need some additional time to claim victory but this is promising. By power management I mean in device manager/usb hub/power management options I unchecked “allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”. There were a number of hubs and I just disabled power management for all of them.
I have had zero disconnects since turning off usb power management so I consider this issue closed and would recommend if anyone else has this problem. Thanks!
