KD-E10 switch 2 PC client going to sleep briefly turns off monitors when switch 1 is active

Hi,

This is something I’ve noticed and a minor thing so not major, but something I wanted to highlight if there’s any workaround or fix.

I have the KD-E10 KVM dock, I have a USB-C laptop on Switch 1 and a desktop PC on Switch 2. I’ve noticed if I’m on switch 1 and my PC on switch 2 is also on but idle goes into automatic sleep after as a while, this action causes both monitors connected to the dock and currently active on switch 1 to briefly turn off and lose signal before automatically turning on again after a few seconds. I don’t believe the same occurs from switch 1 to switch 2 where the laptop goes to sleep and it doesn’t make the connected monitors briefly go into standby.

Not sure if there’s anything that can be done, it is not a major issue, but an interesting quirk.

Other than that, the KD-E10 has been great for dual monitors across two clients. The best KVM I’ve never used!

Thanks,

James

Hello James,
Thank you for reaching us and we are truly sorry for the trouble caused.
We have tried some testings and still cannot reproduce the same issue with yours:

  1. PC set goes into sleep after 1 minute then switch to USB-C laptop.
  2. Working on USB-C laptop and try disconnect the “HDMI in” or “DP in” cable
  3. Working on USB-C laptop and restarting the PC

All these 3 scenarios not have the screens turn off and on again issue.
What is your laptop model number?
Monitors’ model number?
Your PC GPU model?
Best Regards,

Hi,
I have a simular problem. Laptop to Switch 1 and PC to Switch 2. Laptop lid closed and configured not to go to sleep with lid closed. Wireless Logitech mouse/keboard combo to front USB 3.0. PC is off and only use laptop Dell Latitude 5420 with 2 monitor. When Laptop goes to sleepmode both monitors looses signal and to wake laptop again I have to pull the laptop USB-C connected cable at laptop, open laptop and press power to wake and then reconnect USB-C cable again. It´s a bit frustrating not being able to wake up laptop with wireless keyboard/mouse.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the reply.

  1. Dell Precision 3571
  2. Dell S2419H and Dell S2419HN
  3. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 3060

It only seems to be the action of the PC going into S3 sleep that triggers the monitors to briefly go into standby if the switch is set to the laptop, if the laptop is put into sleep while the PC switch is active, it doesn’t do it.
