I use two laptops and keep both laptops closed when in use. I know my computers support both of my monitors with simultaneous use. The problem is that one of my monitors will not allow a large enough resolution to fit the organic resolution for the monitor. Please see the details below and advise how I can solve the problem.
I use two monitors connected via HDMI to the C20 using thunderbolt cable 4 from PC to the C20.
Monitor 1: Samsung LS34C650TANXGO
*** Monitor 1, Organic Resolution: 3440 x 1440**
*** Monitor 1, Functioning Resolution: 1920 x 1080**
Monitor 2: Samsung LS34DG856SNXZA
*** Monitor 2, Organic Resolution: 3440 x 1440**
*** Monitor 2, Functioning Resolution: 3440 x 1440**
Thanks for getting back to us and truly sorry for the trouble caused.
As our product came with DP MST mode and DP alt mode, and not thunderbolt protocol or Displaylink based.
The two monitors’ real output resolution also depends on the laptop graphics card performance while ot output multiple video streams thru the single USB-C ports.
In this case, some laptops cannot output two large enough resolution to fit both two monitors’ native resolution.
Best Regards,
I have similar issue:
2 closed laptops, connected to C20 with USB-C cables
2 DELL-S2722QC monitors, connected to C20 with high-quality HDMI cables
Full resolution on both screens works on my new laptop, but does have similar issue as you have when displaying screen from my old laptop.
Found the issue is old laptop’s graphic card. Have to replace my old laptop
Hello,
I just purchased and installed a C20 dock to connect 2 laptops (Dell XPS 9510 and HP ProBook 450 both running latest Win11 versions) to 2 monitors (LGUN650P and LG32UP550N) with the intent to operate both monitors at 4k and am experiencing the same issue for the Dell laptop: Whichever monitor wakes up first uses active signal mode 3840x2160 and desktop mode 3840x2160 and the second monitor to wake uses active signal mode 1920x1080 with desktop mode 3840x2160, which sucks.
When switching to the HP laptop both monitors correctly operate at 4k.
Connecting either laptop individually to a Dell Dock WD19S with the exact same 2 monitors and high-speed HDMI cables works perfectly at 4k for both.
I did look at BIOS settings in the Dell laptop, disabling Thunderbolt Technology support, but no difference.
Can the problem of not having 2 monitors operate at 4k for both laptops somehow be solved with the C20 dock?
As the USB-C came in our product support DP MST and DP alt mode only, not with Thunderbolt protocol or Displaylink based, so the two external monitors’ output resolution also depends on the laptop graphics card performance.
You can check does the laptop have a new graphics card driver version and try update to have a test.
You can try test with other high-end USB-C cable, such as 40Gbps USB-C cable or TB4/USB4 cable.
If still have the same problem and we don’t have a alternative solution.
Truly sorry for the trouble caused.
I do not understand your DP MST and DP Alt mode remark.
Both integrated Intel GPU and discrete Nvidia RTX3050 drivers are fully up to date and the problem persists.
My current USB-c cables are certainly NOT of type TB4/USB4. I will test that USB-c cable type and revert.
As I read your answer: if with better cables, ie USB4/TB4, running 2 laptops at 4k resolution, does not work, it will never work as the hardware of the AV Access is limited. That would be a real pity and would push me to return an otherwise good looking product.
Hello Kevin,
Today I operated both laptops connected via USB4/TB4 cable. The cable were connected to the USB ports on both laptops specified as USB4/TB4. It made no difference to the original stated problem, where one of my 4k capable LG monitors will ‘downgrade’ its resolution (set in win 11 to 4k) to FullHD.
Grasping at straws I also tried a second USB-C connector to the Dell XPS9510 laptop for powerdelivery in order to get to full power - no difference. The intel and Nvidia drivers were reinstalled and operated at their default values…
I am at a loss…
Does your product allow 4k resolution to 2 monitors in my setup?
Appreciate for your hard work on our device.
We may not have other similar products currently that work better as you expect on your setup at this time, because the USB-C came with same solution including the iDock C20.
Becaused it may caused by the Dell laptop graphics card performance limitation or is our product cannot work well with this laptop.
Truly sorry for the trouble caused.
