KD-E10: wrong computer is woken up

Hello!

I have a strange problem with KD-E10 - it seems to wake up the wrong computer when switching. Here’s what happens.

Assuming computer 1 is currently selected in the switch and both computers are suspended.
When I press the switch button KVM switches to the second computer, but the first computer gets woken up. The second computer doesn’t react to keyboard presses and stays suspended.
When I press the switch button again KVM switches back to the first computer (which is now running), but the second computer gets woken up.
When I press the switch button again KVM switches to the second computer. Both are now running.

Is this a bug? Or am I misunderstanding how auto wake up feature is supposed to work?

Thanks

Hello Pavel,

Thanks for reaching us and we are truly sorry for the issue.
Kindly please try upgrade our new firmware for a check does it can fixes your issue or not:KD-E10 firmware
And you can contacting us via email: kevin@avaccess.com

Hello @Kevin

Thank you.

I have access to Linux computers only (both PC and the laptop connected to the switch are running Linux). ProAVManager starts under wine, but is unable to upgrade the switch. Whenever I click Update button it complains that upgrade package isn’t selected:

The Check button works though and can query current firmware version. As you can see the switch is already running the latest 1.0.5 firmware. Not sure about the TPS65988 chip, it looks like it’s not possible to query its version via this program.

The laptop has integrated Intel graphics, so I haven’t even tried the Kinetic tool, as the docs says it won’t work.

I also tried power cycling the switch. Unfortunately, the same behavior persists - it wakes up the wrong computer whenever I switch between the ports.

Anything else I can try? Any way to check/upgrade the firmware under Linux? What about laptops with integrated Intel graphics?

Hi Pavel,

When running the ProAVManager software as the administrator and there would be pop up the warning window, please choose the " More Info" then click “run”.
And also kindly please try use the windows computer to upgrade the the file.
For the Kinetic tool, sorry and it cannot campatible the intel graphics card laptop.
So please try the ProAVManager tool first.

Hello @Kevin

I’m running the tool on a Windows computer now and via “Run as Administrator”, but the result is the same - whenever I click the “Update” button it just says “Please select the upgrade package”:

The same message if I try the second file (TPS65988 v1.2.0).

Anything else I can try?

Ok. The problem with upgrade was because I only downloaded the exe file from Dropbox, not the whole directory.

The program now works, but it says that the switch is already running the latest firmware:

The problem with wake up is still there though - whenever I switch the port, wrong computer is woken up.

Hello Pavel,
Thanks for your update and we are checking with engineer and try reproduce this issue in our lab.
Could you share your setup to us:

  1. What is your laptop model number?
  2. What is your desktop model number and the Graphics card model?
  3. What is your monitors model number?
  4. How many USB devices connected and what are they?
By the way,you can get back to us via email: kevin@avaccess.com
Appreciate for your time in advance.

Hello @Kevin

Thank you.

I’ve sent the details over email.

I seem to have the same issue, but after updating the firmware linked here I think it stopped waking up any computer at all.

For me the update fixed the issue.

Originally, the link pointed to 1.0.5 firmware and that version had the bug.
The fix was released in 1.0.6 (and link updated). With 1.0.6 the switch now correctly wakes up the computer I’m switching to.

Hi Maruno,

Truly sorry and kindly please double check are you update to the V1.0.6

Yes, I got the v1.0.6. Before I updated it when switching from my Windows PC (port 2/USB-B) to my macbook (port 1/USB-C) the Windows PC would wake up. (The Windows PC was in sleep mode after long inactivity.) After the update that doesn’t happen, which is really a good improvement!

It only doesn’t wake up the Windows PC when switching to it either, that would be a nice functionality. For now I turn on the PC manually.

Edit: I just had a case where it did work and the PC turned on when I switched to it! Is there anything that can influence this somehow that I can check?

Hi Maruno,
Try check and lowering the PC sleeping mode level for a check.
And for smoe PCs,after switched it may took around 5~6s to wake up the PC so you can try wait for a little time to have a check.
